Joined the Faculty in: July 1997 Colonel Dodt is the Commandant of the Marine Corps Chair, and Professor of Military Strategy and Operations at the National War College in Washington, D.C. His areas of expertise include East Asia and Okinawa.
He is the recipient of the Marine Corps Association's "Major General B. Cates Award" for individual research for a monograph entitled the The Generalship of Ulysses S. Grant.
Col Dodt earned a BA in Political Science and an MPA from American University. He is also a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
Col Dodt's military background is in aviation command and control and ground based air defense. He commanded a Stinger Battalion and a Marine Air Control Group. His most recent operational assignment was Chief of Staff of First Marine Aircraft Wing on Okinawa. He has served in both the Department of Aviation and the Plans Division at Headquarters Marine Corps.
